Homegrown shot-stopper Connal Trueman reveals his pride at making his First Team breakthrough in an exclusive interview for Friday’s Blues News matchday programme for the visit of Swansea City.

“To walk out in front of that many Bluenoses was a fantastic feeling,” commented the 22-year-old Brummie goalkeeper, as he recalled his debut performance in the last home match against Norwich.

“Once I had done the handshakes and walked over towards the Tilton the noise was incredible, so it was something that I tried to take in as much as I could, live in the moment and really enjoy it.”

There are a host of new player features to get your teeth into in this season’s revamped Blues News – the Club’s matchday publication which was voted ‘Runner-Up’ in Programme Monthly’s 2017/18 Championship awards.

Wes Harding recalls some significant ‘Firsts’ from his life and career, whilst we quiz striker Isaac Vassell to see what he can remember from his time in football so far in our ‘Is This Your Life?’ feature.

Plus, we go ‘Inside The Dressing Room’ with Josh Dacres-Cogley to discover more about the personalities and habits of the Blues squad.

The new-look programme is brimming with lots more fresh articles and one-off features, including a chat with lifelong Bluenose Kevin Tomlinson about his unique tribute to boss Garry Monk after the team survived relegation at the end of the last campaign.

We dip into Club history with new features, including ‘Ever Presents’, ‘Hat-trick Heroes’, ‘Cover to Cover’, and ‘Birth Match’, as well as the new regular column from former Blues favourite Geoff Horsfield, whose Foundation is our Charity Partner for 2018/19.

We also look back on the career of striker Barry Bridges, who made his final appearance for Blues exactly 50 years ago.

There’s all this and much more in Friday’s Blues News, including the must-read Manager’s column.

The Club’s matchday programme is being produced again by Mainstream Print, who renewed their deal as our ‘Print Supplier’ for the current campaign.

The company’s Managing Director, Anthony Harris, said: “Mainstream Print are delighted to continue their partnership with this great club and continue to work with the superb commercial and marketing teams, as we have done for a good few years now.

“To work with a club with the kudos that Birmingham City have is a great honour for us, and it has done our business no end of good.

“We wish the Club continued success in the Championship, and sincerely hope it won’t be long before they take their rightful position in the top flight of English football.”
