Blues' captain Kerys Harrop has been shortlisted for October's Barclays WSL Player of the Month Award.

The 28-year-old England international captained her side in Blues' two WSL games in October against Manchester City and Liverpool and scored in the 2-0 success against The Reds.

Harrop is up for the accolade alongside Kirsty Hanson (Manchester United), Chloe Kelly (Everton) Vivianne Miedema (Arsenal) and Danielle van de Donk (Arsenal).

The game against Liverpool was Harrop's record-breaking appearance in the WSL. The defender is the league's most capped player making 130 appearances since the competition began.

Explaining Harrop's inclusion, Barclays said: "Birmingham City were good value for their opening win, a 2-0 success over Liverpool.

"Kerys led from the front powerfully heading her side into the lead, but it was her leadership as much as her goalscoring ability that saw Harrop draw praise, holding off Liverpool in the second-half."
