Pep Clotet says his side need to be aware of the goalscoring threat posed by Luton when The Hatters visit the St. Andrew's Trillion Trophy on Saturday.

Luton have carried on where they left off last season when they won promotion from League One, by finding the net on a regular basis.

In topping the third flight of English football, The Hatters fired home an impressive 90 goals during the 2018/19 campaign.

And already this campaign they have notched up 20 in the 'goals for' column, making them the joint fifth highest scorers in the Championship.

Conversely though Graeme Jones' have conceded 23 times.

Blues in comparison have scored just 12 goals, but only conceded 15 from their 13 Championship games.

"They manage their risk, they risk leaving three players up front, doing a little bit of pressing to your backline but they don’t have a high participation in defence once you beat that," said the Blues boss.

"It means they are defending with the rest and they have these three outlets, you are probably going to see it on Saturday, that’s how they did it on Wednesday (when they were beaten 3-2 at Fulham).

"That thinking was done by Mark Warburton when he was at Brentford and he got Brentford near to the play-offs, when you win the ball you always have an outlet to go and break.

"That has given them a lot of good breaks and a lot of goals."
