Pep Clotet has welcomed the addition of new signing Jeremie Bela to his squad and feels the 26-year-old will give his team additional attacking options.

Bela, who was a free agent, penned a three-year deal, plus a years option, with Blues yesterday.

Blues received international clearance for the former Albacete player this afternoon, and he will be available for selection for Saturday's home game against Fulham.

“I am pleased (to have him here) because he is one of the targets we identified a long time ago and the Club has worked hard since then," said Clotet.

“It was not possible to do it in the summer, but I am very happy the Club has had this resilience to understand and know he is a player that can help us and that we can build the team."

As well as possessing an abundance of pace, Bela also chips in with a decent amount of goals.

“Pace is always good, because football is turning to a game of speed, physicality and tactically, and teams who can do things faster than the opposition have an edge," continued Clotet, when asked about Bela's attributes.

“Speed is massive in counter attacks, quick attacks and pressing and some things that are important to us.

“Jeremie has a record of very good numbers when it comes to goalscoring chances, he is very calm in the box, using those chances he is very cool in those situations.

“Not only when he plays in the middle, especially when he plays wide as well, it is not easy to find wingers with that solid track record.

“It gives us more options, it allows us to play with two or three forwards, that’s very important for us going forward."

Although Bela has not played a competitive game since June  - in he Spanish Second Division Play-Off Semi-Final -  Clotet says he has no concerns about his general fitness.

"We had him training with us for a couple of weeks as well to assess his fitness level. His fitness levels look very good," added Clotet

“He looks sharp, but he will get sharper as well he plays more with the team.

"He is ready to start helping the team as soon as we decide.”
