Reaction: Blues 2 Barnsley 0

I am very happy with the performance the players put in today under the circumstances we were coming from, bouncing back like that.

Pep Clotet's comments after seeing Blues earn a 2-0 victory against Barnsley this evening...

His overall take on Blues performance against the Reds...
"I take into consideration where we were coming from. On Saturday it was very harsh for us, things didn't happen the way that we wanted so it was really important for our players to come back after that. There is always a little something in the back of your head thinking 'How are we going to be?' I am very happy with the performance the players put in today under the circumstances we were coming from, bouncing back like that. The only thing I can do is credit them massively."

On the things that pleased him most...
"The team tactically, physically and mentally worked the game very well. We managed to counter-balance Barnsley very well to avoid Campy (Lee Camp) having a tough night. That's a huge credit not only to the defenders but the midfielders who were working to support them and the strikers who were working very hard in defence. Secondly we managed to cause a lot of problems to Barnsley, not only in the football but as well we managed to be a real threat on set-plays, a real threat on the break, a real threat in behind."

On his players not sitting back to protect their 1-0 lead...
"With a 1-0 lead we managed to keep the ball and avoid dropping. That was a huge step forward for the team.I am really delighted because in the Championship when you get the lead it's very easy for teams to drop a little bit and try to defend that lead. Today I saw a Birmingham that was always trying to get the second goal. Even though it's a little detail for me it's a massive step forward because it implies a proper mentality in the team. The more the game went the more problems we created, a huge credit to the players and a huge credit to the fans who understood that what happened on Saturday was not Birmingham City and they helped us massively get back to our ways."

On the reason for Maxime Colin missing out against Barnsley and Wes Harding's excellent display as his replacement....
"Max felt a little bit of tightness on his hamstring after Saturday. He had a scan and it didn't show anything to worry about, so he should be available in a few days. In terms of Wes I wasn't worried because I knew he would do well and Sedds (Steve Seddon) would do well on the other side. It's good that we have players that can come in and fill the gap and do good, you know? Jake Clarke-Salter? It a minor one. He felt his back, we opted to rest him. He should be all right to train Wednesday."
