Harry Wood and Matty Jacob were on the scoresheet for the visitors.
Looking to bounce back from the disappointing Sheffield Wednesday game three weeks ago, Steve Spooner’s side started the game brightly with some quick passing football.
However, in the opening stages, Hull kept trying to launch the ball upfield to the left to find Jacob, whose movement caused a lot of problems for full-back George Baker.
The first goal came after 10 minutes when Jacob picked up a long ball and teed up the on-rushing Wood on the edge of the penalty area and he drilled his shot into the bottom corner.
They almost had a second a few minutes later when a header from a corner rattled against the crossbar before Blues were able to get it clear.
A lot of Blues’ threat came from the widemen Kyle Hurst and Rhys Hilton. Both youngsters were constantly able to dribble through Hull’s defence but whenever a chance fell, goalkeeper Harvey Cartwright was there to save it.
Despite trailing, Blues were in control of the game, they were dominating possession and playing their way up the pitch but just could not find the back of the net.
Tate Campbell fired a shot over after some great build-up play which split Hull’s defence open as Blues were begging for one of their chances to find the back of the net.
Ryan Stirk’s effort near the end of the first-half was parried by Cartwright and narrowly missed finding its way into the far corner.
From the restart, Stirk spectacularly tried his luck from the halfway line as his effort caught the goalkeeper unaware, but it unfortunately dropped wide of the target.
As the half went on, Blues were creating many chances but Cartwright was there to collect them, and he pulled off a great save from Remi Walker’s shot from range which looked destined for the top corner.
It seemed that it was not going to be Blues’ day and Hull duly went and added a second on a counter-attack as Jacob met a cross from the right-hand side to seal the three points.
