Ivan Sanchez joined Blues earlier this summer... here we take a look at some of the key facts and figures from the Spaniard's life and career to date.

1) Sanchez graduated through the youth set-up of Spanish club Real Jaén. Jaén have spent just three seasons in the Spanish top flight in their history, which was back in the 1950s.

2) At the age of 18 he signed for Spanish giants Atletico Madrid and was assigned to their B-side, which played in the Spanish third tier.

3) During his time at Atletico he trained under Argentine playing legend Diego Simeone, who was and remains the first team manager.

4) In his three years with Atletico B he made 84 appearances, scoring seven times.

5) In June 2014 he made the switch to fellow UD Almería B where scored 11 times in 39 appearances.

6) His performances for the B side saw him promoted into the first team and he made debut for Almeria in a 3-2 away win at Real Betis in the Copa Del Rey. He went on to feature 37 times for the Almeria senior side.

7) He joined Albacete on loan in January 2017 and helped them win promotion out of the Spanish third tier at the end of that season.

8) Prior to joining Blues, he was with Elche, and played a key role in them twice winning promotion - in June 2018 back to the Second Division and then in August 2020 back to La Liga.

9) During his time at Elce he racked up 120 appearances in all, scoring 11 goals.

10) In terms of his playing style, he has pace and skill and can drive forward with the ball. He is also very creative and effective in one on one situations

13) His birthday is on 23 September, the same date as American rocker Bruce Springsteen.

14) His full name is Iván Sánchez Aguayo. Aguayo is his maternal family name.

15) He was born in the Spanish City of Campillo de Arenas in Andalusia which has a population of just 2020 people and is famous for its olive oil.

16) Sanchez shares his name with fellow Spaniard Ivan Sanchez, who is an actor and film producer from Madrid, but is 45.
