Blues take on the Foxes in the final group game of the Conti Cup with a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs.
After one game, Blues currently sit second in the group, on goal difference, only behind our final group opponents.
Johnathan Morgan’s side currently sit top of FA Women’s Championship after nine games and beat Blackburn Rovers 5-2 in their first Conti Cup group game.
After defeat against Arsenal on Sunday the mood in camp is still high and Ward emphasised that the Leicester match provides the opportunity for Blues to make the game about them.
She explained: “Leicester have recruited well and have got a good side, but I think the focus has got to be on us and what we do.
“In the league we do a lot around opposition and we will look at what Leicester do, but it’s got to be about us. It’s an opportunity for it to be about us.”
Ward emphasised the expectations that the group set themselves and how they now go about managing those.
She said: “They’ve set standards high and the expectations within the group are a lot higher now. I would say they won’t be very happy, and this provides them with an opportunity to put things right.
“This group now, it’s about managing their expectations because they’re a group that want more and want to be better every day.”
A standout from Sunday’s game was goalkeeper Hannah Hampton, and Ward was full of praise for the shot-stopper.
She said: “Hannah’s got all the potential in the World. I was delighted with her performance on Sunday, it was probably the best I’ve seen from her. She was exceptional for us on Sunday.”
