Reaction: Blues 2 Huddersfield Town 1

Three points in this league are massive especially for us and especially after the last game against QPR where we deserved to win as well.

Aitor Karanka’s thoughts after Wednesday night’s 2-1 win against Huddersfield Town.

His overall thoughts on the victory…

"We deserve this win. If you see the first half, we could have gone in two or three nil ahead; we had a number of clear chances. Then in the second half, we defended well, we were organised, I don’t remember any clear chances for them apart from hitting the crossbar. After conceding that goal, we kept our mentality and got the win which is really important for us. Three points in this league are massive especially for us and especially after the last game against QPR where we deserved to win as well. It is about the three points and today we got them."

On Jutkiewicz scoring the winner…

"We are pleased for him and for the team. He was ready to play from the first day he was at home, we were in touch with him and he said that he was desperate to come back. Jukey is a player that can score and will always give 150%. It was a really good finish in a difficult moment in the game where we had been defending."

His decision to play George Friend at left-back…

"When you have Robbo and Harlee Dean playing so well, I have to choose 11 players, I can’t choose 12. Today we wanted to be more offensive and I think with George, we could’ve been more offensive. The main thing for me is knowing that the 11 players out on the pitch gave 100%."

His thoughts on our form starting to turn…

"To win a game is always important because you can play well but if you don’t win the games, then you are going down. Now with a win, it is more encouraging for the future. We have three games until the international break, they are important games. The most important thing for me is that I now have twenty players to choose from."

On the transition period the team has undergone…

"We have been together for two months; we have brought in eleven new players. We have played with five different shapes in our opening games. The players are doing an amazing job and the commitment that they have on the pitch is amazing."
