Lucy Whipp Stays at Blues Women

Blues Women are pleased to announce that Lucy Whipp has signed a new contract.

The midfielder has put pen to paper on a one-year deal with the Club which will see her spend a third season at Blues.

A versatile operator in the heart of the team, Whipp signed back in August 2019 and would score her first goal later that year during a 0-2 win over Bristol City. She has since become a key figure in the side, with her dependable performances helping Blues to secure their Barclays FA Women’s Super League status last season.

Her move to the Second City followed on from success representing St. John's University. She undertook studies in New York, having previously been a part of the Everton side that reached 2014’s Women’s FA Cup final.

After agreeing terms to extend her journey with Blues, Whipp told BCFC.com:

“I am really excited to have signed for another year and it is another season to play in the WSL. There is a lot to be excited about this season with a new Head Coach, new staff and lots of new faces.

“I am excited with what he [Scott Booth] is going to bring to the team. He has done really well in Scotland and I am looking forward to working with him and seeing what he wants to bring to the team this year.

“I am really pleased that pre-season is starting. The off-season has gone on forever, so getting back on the pitch, playing some matches and preparing, I am really excited for it.”
