Blues Women are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Sophie Whitehouse until the end of the 2020/21 season.

The 24-year-old joins Blues after a spell with fellow Barclays FA Women’s Super League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Although born in Enfield, Whitehouse did not link up with Spurs until October 2020 having spent her childhood between Tanzania and the United States.

In the U.S. she made the transition into senior football with Columbia University, New York City, wearing the armband for the side as she kept five clean sheets in 17 outings during the 2018 campaign.

The following year, Whitehouse made 13 appearances for Santa Clara University in the NCAA competition before returning to the United Kingdom in early 2020.

Speaking to, Head Coach Carla Ward explained what Blues' newest recruit will bring.

She said: "Sophie's a really exciting talent and someone we’ve monitored since the summer. She will add valuable competition for Hannah [Hampton] and we’re delighted that she’s onboard."

Assigned the number 24 shirt, Whitehouse is available for selection against Everton in the WSL next weekend.

Welcome to Blues, Sophie.
